New's graduation certificate is recognized by the New York city building and construction trades apprenticeship programs and New York state department of labor for direct entry into union apprenticeships. After completing the program, new works with graduates to place them with employers in construction related work.New actively provides career placement services to graduates through one-on-one employment consulation, workshops, and interview preparation. New staff members work with each student throughout training to help the student select and pursue career choices. Employment staff members, working alongside program coordinators, participate in mid-term evaluations and final exit evaluations to ensure each student understands their career options, evaluates their skills and ability to succeed, and selects the career where they are best suited and will excel. In addition to core programming, new also delivers advanced training designed to provide graduates with credentials and/or skills for an in-depth comprehension of industry trends that will make them more competitive candidates and accelerate their career advancement. Advanced training offerings include those focused on preparation for local 3 electricians con edison utility workers, and sheet metal worker careers.New also facilitates the process and makes introductions for graduates to earn additional certifications on their own. This can be from directing a graduate on how to get a driver's license to fireguard certification or obtaining a cdl. New has also, in some cases, covered the cost of fees associated with these additional certifications. In addition to long-term career planning, immediately after completing training new works with graduates to secure placements in interim jobs, as appropriate, as they prepare for a long-term career opportunity. New focuses on jobs that are related to new's core industries and has expanded outreach to employers in related industries that hire directly and improve graduates candidacy for future trade opportunities. When the covid-19 pandemic ensued in March 2020, new quickly pivoted its programming to a virtual model. In an unprecedented time of grappling with the consequences of a global pandemic, economic downturn, and barriers to conducting in-person programming and services, new continues to place graduates in careers while ensuring their positions will prioritize their safety and health on job sites.
