Girl scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to
Girl scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs across our state, girl scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alumnae, girl scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.At girl scouts of colorado, we envision a world where every girl feels good about who she is; she resolves conflict, promotes cooperation, and develops healthy relationships; she's a resourceful problem-solver who advocates for herself and others; she feels empowered to change the world. Imagine what she will do for our world. We believe transformational leadership begins in girlhood. The girl scout program is a girl-led leadership experience where girls discover, connect, and take action through badge-earning, civic engagement, outdoor experiences and travel. It's a life-long leadership journey that progresses as girls grow. Through the girl scout leadership experience, we know that girls are developing leadership skills through everyday actions big and small, and incorporating our four program pillars (stem, outdoors, life skills, and entrepreneurship) into everything they do as girl scouts. Participating in girl scouts is proven to help girls thrive in five key ways as they: - develop a strong sense of self. - Display positive values. - Seek challenges and learn from setbacks. - Form and maintain healthy relationships. - And identify and solve problems in the community. In the 2021 membership year, girl scouts of colorado served nearly 15,000 girls and 9,000 adults and continued to rise to the challenge of the ongoing pandemic. As the covid-19 pandemic wore on, girls and their families continued to feel mental health, economic, and environmental impacts, and girl scouts of colorado was there to help them through.Covid cases rose and many schools went to online formats - girl scouts of colorado continued to develop popular virtual programming options such as an online "get moving with denver broncos cheerleaders" self-esteem workshop attended by hundreds of girls; monthly online badge-earning opportunities; and trainings for troop leaders to learn how to bring their girl scouts together in this strange, new, online-only world. Girl scouts showed they're here to help and girls continued with highest awards projects such as building a benches and little free library in berthoud, and service projects such as jars of happiness for senior citizens and holiday food-and-warm-clothing drives.
