Part 1: join the journey (jtj) is a Christian organization that assists women in sub-saharan Africa to flourish through coaching and capital. The organization provides grant funds to implementing partners in the developing world who manage the micro-lending programs in their respective countries. Beneficiaries selected are underserved women who would not otherwise qualify for a traditional bank loan. Loan funds are directed specifically to help individuals expand their businesses and in turn use profits to enhance their livelihoods, fulfilling join the journey's core mission to alleviate poverty. The organization also oversees and coordinates a coaching program that connects business leaders with entrepreneurs in our empowerment program. In 2021, the organization was partnered exclusively and intentionally with spark zambia in zambia. - Part 3: join the journey's mission is to ignite christ-fueled journeys to flourishing through intentional coaching and access to capital for business owners-predominantly women-in sub-saharan Africa. Our aim is to boost their businesses and in turn help them break the cycle of extreme poverty.

Women empowerment- the organization executed its flagship program spark biz in zambia, providing loans and coaching to 150 beneficiaries, equating to loan capital grants of close to $24,000. The loans and business outputs helped benefit another 2,500 people either directly related to the beneficiaries or community members that had greater assess to goods and services to sustain their daily lives. This program features our intentional coaching where u.S. Business leaders were able to impart wisdom on a weekly basis through zoom.
Spark coach program - as both a component of but also a separate accomplishment, the organization was able to recruit, train, and provide connections for meaningful volunteer service for 50-plus business leaders. These leaders would speak to our entrepreneurs in zambia via zoom. Individuals participating felt a deep connection with the work taking place in zambia, grew in their mutual respect for lives in zambia, and were able to add value from their respective expertise. Our spark coach program continues to be a hallmark for meaningful service and mutual benefit for our program on the ground.
Christian outreach and poverty awareness events - join the journey conducted several events that doubled as opportunities to share a message-through jesus christ-and also share about our mission in helping empower the poor in zambia. As a Christian organization, we felt it was important to build community with events that helped inspire and bring people together. Where appropriate, we charged ticket sales to cover costs of the events and also provided information on how participants could give. Our summer concert, renewal, featured Christian music-artist jason gray that was both an in-person event and live-streamed; gray, who has overcome a stutter and other hardships inspired participants to strive on no matter what - and tied back to our work in zambia of encouraging that same mentality in those we serve. In all, the three events-joyful noise, renewal, and joyful jam-reached more than 10,000 people who either tuned in, saw rebroadcasts, or caught a clip of the events on social media.
