Mission

Part 1: afn provides grants, scholarships and fellowships that advance Jewish study for women, support disadvantaged students, and foster new leadership roles for women in religious life. - Part 3: american friends of nishmat (afn) is committed to building a community of influential Jewish women scholars, educators and leaders. Sponsors advanced study of classical Jewish texts, such as bible and talmud, for women in the u.S. And Israel, provides scholarships for disadvantaged students who are the first in their families to obtain advanced education, and supports lectures, classes and discussion centered on study of classic texts.

All Programs

Afn provides grants, fellowships and scholarships to support advanced Jewish edu. And scholarship for women, especially educational and leadership programs at nishmat: the jeanie schottenstein center for advanced Torah study for women. Afn funds provide significant support for nishmat's yoetzet halacha fellows program, which educates and certifies women as religious professionals, for the nishmat ethiopian women program, which empowers young women of ethiopian-Jewish descent to succeed in college and join the professional work force, and for nishmat's online educational and informational resources for women from around the world, among other program services. Nishmat enrolls over 200 full and part-time students in diverse acad. Programs, supplemented by community service and myriad informal educational activities.
