Patient services: planned parenthood los angeles operates 34 different health centers, including 21 community based health centers and 13 high school based health centers throughout los angeles and has more than 244,000 patient visits per year. More than 88% of our patients live at or below federal poverty level. Our call center answers over 322,000 calls a year, providing education and information to patients and community members. The majority of our health services are prevention-focused, including life-saving cancer screenings, education, sti testing and treatment, and family planning.
Education: planned parenthood los angeles provides youth, parents, teachers, health providers, community-based partners and schools with accurate, culturally relevant and research based health education. Our programs cover not only sexual and reproductive health care but also healthy relationships and decision-making. Every year our educational programs reach over 40,000 youth and adults in hundreds of schools and dozens of partner agencies and community-based organizations. Our promotoras communitarias reach 29,000 members of the community each year.
Public affairs: the public affairs team engages in advocacy and community organizing. Public affairs works to protect and expand access to reproductive health care, and comprehensive sex education in schools. Efforts include protecting and expanding funding for publicly funded programs (fpact, medi-cal), heath care services to the uninsured and/or under-served communities, ensuring comprehensive sex education in schools and communities, protecting and expanding reproductive rights and access to care for all. The public affairs department houses the agency's communications and media work.
